This component channels airflow toward the extruder. Typically, fan shrouds are affixed to the fan or secured on the side; however, in this case, the fan is mounted on the tip itself, hence its name. The fan should be parallel to the build platform; however, I've found it can negatively impact print quality as wind pushes the hot and pliable plastic towards the rear of the printer. This design allows for directed airflow while maintaining its original purpose.
