Printrbot Simple extruder fan mount
thingiverse
My Printrbot Simple experiences extruder overheating during prolonged prints. Several others have also encountered this issue and resolved it by installing fans near the extruder to maintain a safe temperature. Below is my custom 40mm fan mount that functions effectively. After being inspired by Nathaniel Chapman's approach, I decided to power the fan using the unused heated bed port; to do so, a 100K jumper must be inserted on the T-BED connection, simulating a thermistor in the process. In addition, specific G-code needs to be incorporated into the slicer, allowing the fan to activate (M140 S60) and deactivate (M140 S0).
