Printrbot Simple, 300mm Y Axis-No Sag!
thingiverse
Upgrade your Y axis to a 300 mm (12") GT2 belt drive for stability and eliminate Y-Sag with this mod. The original length of 150 mm reaches the edge of a 6" heat bed, but can be extended further if needed. To ensure stability, ensure the lower rod is 50 mm longer than the top. Increase linear bearing centers from stock 24 mm to 64 mm for three times the overhang possible. The Y/X axis must be at 90 degrees. Requirements include a 95 mm x 95 mm print area, flat printing without edges lifting and a well-calibrated printer. Other necessities include a GT2 20 tooth belt pulley, a Z axis hex nut measuring 1/2" across flats and specific STL files. The design is compatible with a wooden direct drive extruder but has not been tested with an aluminum one. The mod includes revisions from February to April 2014, with updates for different printer models and parts. Instructions for installation are provided, along with tips on belt tensioning and pulley location. Firmware may need updating for preset limit increases.
