Printrbot Simple 1405 Legs
thingiverse
I teach a 3D printing class at camp, where we work on projects like building our own Printrbot simple printers to keep. The main issue we faced was dealing with wires: if they were too thick, the printer would rock uncontrollably when in motion; and sometimes, due to their length or size, the printer would tilt. To resolve this problem, I designed small legs that elevate the printer by half an inch off the ground, reducing rocking movements. **Using the Raising System** These new feet will accommodate all of the Printrbot simple printers with ease. To properly set them up, make sure you position the back leg at a 45-degree angle since it is about an inch longer than 4 inches long. I produced two front legs, attaching them on both sides of the printer to ensure maximum stability and minimal movement side to side. While it's feasible to use one single leg instead, using just one can lead to undesirable side-to-side movement. **Setting up for Optimal Printing** To achieve an ideal outcome, remember these critical settings: * 5% infill level * Shells should be around 1 mm * The desired layer thickness should be set at .2 mm These parameters work particularly well with PLA-based materials. **Positioning Guidelines** Keep in mind the absence of rafts or supports in the printing design. This can potentially make it slightly harder, especially since we are making certain critical arrangements by hand and visual confirmation for each piece of these new small pieces as we prepare to install them all on our machine and then see exactly what the printer prints looks like and so it would work nicely when I am at my house in Colorado but we won't have those details set until this evening and they're printed right next door and once I get that setup working fine.
