I am completely unaware if I somehow missed the mark or not, but the Fan Shroud listed in the instructions linked to the wrong type of printer - the Printrbot Metal model instead of my Printrbot Simple maker's edition machine. Consequently, the shroud didn't fit onto my particular unit correctly and thus failed to perform as anticipated. Upon examining Thingiverse for possible solutions, I was unable to discover a Fan Shroud that corresponded to the specific fan kit components in my setup, which is when I opted to design and print one on my own machine. After completing several initial prints using this homemade assembly, I immediately noticed a marked difference in how smoothly each new layer materialized during the process - they were much more refined than before, a direct result of having an adequate fan setup to assist with proper air flow around the nozzle section. Now for a recap on how to print and assemble the Printrbot Simple Fan Shroud kit: The first thing is printing. It's quite simple: all you need do is run it with 5% infill density, a layer resolution of .2mm and apply three shells. Using PLA material seems suitable. I also learned that my new homemade shroud will fit properly onto the Printrbot Simple bed of the printer. Printing was quite straightforward - once assembled and attached in place by way of its four little screws from the package (which should go into pre-drilled holes located directly behind where you wish to have your newly installed Shroud fan sitting, with its flat part resting directly on top). After securing these small screws snugly back onto the bed platform to get your brand-new DIY fan running correctly as originally designed by printrbot developers - job well done!
