My hot-running extruder motor refused to cooperate despite maxing out the current. So, I added a beefed-up heat sink and created this clever cowl (shroud is also fine) that redirects airflow across it. Normally, when my fan runs at top speed with a stock shroud, it appears as if all the air gets blown back, mainly because the narrow opening restricts total airflow - thus the idea of using excess flow to direct up into the heat sink was born. Luckily for me, it works pretty effectively; I just haven't bothered to run any rigorous scientific tests on temperature variations.
