Printrbot Plus Vert. Shaft Extruder Mount for Bowden
thingiverse
To enhance my Printrbot Plus's functionality, I opted to utilize Bowden tubes for dual extruders. However, rather than having the extruder stand alone, I placed it atop the Z-Axis shaft. This setup is in conjunction with my Ubis Hot End Bowden Mount. Nonetheless, the Bowden tube experiences significant bending when homing the X-axis and reaching the top of Z-travel, causing extra friction and oozing. Future designs will center the extruder higher on a crossbar linking the Z shafts. This model caters to the Printrbot Plus 12mm Z shaft, with an OpenSCAD file featuring the parameter line: __printr_shaft = 6; // plus = 6, lc = 4__. For 8mm LC shafts, alter it to 4 (shaft radius). The measurements are from Printrbot and pneufit adapter: SPC-06-01 Pneumatic Push to Connect Fitting, which uses British Standard Pipe Taper Thread R1/8". A tap size of 8.4mm is for this thread; however, I'm self-tapping with the thread itself into plastic. Dimensions are 9.45mm for the base and 9.15mm (tapering) for the tip, procured from eBay. I printed the design using a Bowden setup at .8 infill.
