Printrbot Play Toolbelt
thingiverse
This is a modification of my original Printrbot Toolbelt for the Printrbot Simple, designed to take full advantage of its expanded capabilities. With plenty of space to spare, I opted to enlarge the tool belt to make room for a wider array of essential tools. Here's what this customized tool belt now holds: 1 Tweezers 1 Snips/Long Nose Pliers Combo 3 Hex Keys: 1 Motor Type 1 Play Case Screw Type 1 Drive Gear Motor Type 1 Mini Screw Driver: Phillips Head 1 Auto-Level Alignment Block As an added touch, I left space for two more tools. When designing this updated tool belt, I decided to store the Simple's 2 Wooden Wrenches for quick access. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Simple Black Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: Speed = 30 (print at a slow setting for detailed prints) How I Designed This Tool Belt I am a big fan of OpenScad and make sure to share my code with others. I started by downloading my original source, measured the components using a precision micrometer and made some adjustments. Next, I printed out several samples to test their fit. With the measurements finalized, I printed out a few more iterations before I was satisfied with the result. I believe it took around 7 design revisions in total. A huge thank you to the Maker community for Rapid Prototyping which has helped me and others achieve our design goals faster.
