This filament spacer makes spinning the metal spool holder on the Printrbot Play easy and hassle-free for any size filament spool. My experience with my Printrbot Play proved that using filaments from HH3DPlastics and 3DXTech can be difficult until tested on an external spool holder, but now I've created this spacer to make the built-in spool holder usable again, and it works like a charm. Print Settings Rafts: It really doesn't matter whether you use one or not. Resolution: A 0.2mm setting will give you great results. Infill: Make sure your settings are set to 100%. Notes: Tested on Printrbot Play, with prints sliced in Cura, a raft turned out perfectly, the bed at 70 degrees Celsius and hotend at 220 degrees. Post-Printing Step 1 Take the spacer off the print bed and remove any rafts you may have used. Step 2 Slide the filament spacer into place on your Printrbot Play filament holder. Step 3 Carefully slide a new spool of filament onto the built-in spool holder. Make sure it clicks securely in place to avoid loose filament that can tangle up the works later on, or even damage other mechanical components down the line. Step 4 Stand back and enjoy the beautiful result – PROFIT! How I Designed This The whole design took just a few iterations inside Autodesk 123D Design. After some trial and error, I was finally able to create something big enough for my needs by increasing size. Later on I added more style by giving rounded edges and larger dimensions for ease of filament insertion in tight spaces around printer hardware such as belts and gears that move constantly during print jobs which is typical scenario in three dimensional manufacturing processes where sometimes filaments may slip due mechanical interference sources from different system components interfering into final products outcome at production environment inside manufacturing facilities where machinery interacts continuously under various operational modes throughout printing lifecycle process.
