Printrbot Play Filament Guide

Printrbot Play Filament Guide

thingiverse

This is a simple yet effective filament guide designed to keep the filament aligned with the extruder when using a non-stock spool holder. It easily snaps into place on the Play's metal frame, allowing for use on either side. The guide was specifically created to complement my Adjustable Width Spool Holder, available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1479544. Initially, I encountered issues with the spool binding and getting pulled onto the print bed, but this guide has resolved those problems and has not caused them to recur (fingers crossed!). It's worth noting that when using it with the mentioned spool holder, the spool should be oriented to spin counterclockwise. Print Settings: - Printer Brand: Printrbot - Printer: Simple White - Rafts: Doesn't Matter - Supports: Yes - Infill: 80% Notes: I printed this guide on my Play using CURA with supports-to-bed only. Using supports everywhere might fill in the hole where the filament goes, making it difficult to remove the support material. I used an 80% infill but could have likely gotten away with a lower percentage. The print time was approximately 25 minutes. Post-Printing: After printing, I ran a drill bit through the filament hole to clean up the inside of the hole and ensure smooth passage of the filament. Design Software Used: Solidworks 2010
