Printrbot Play and Plus E3D Head Upgrade

Printrbot Play and Plus E3D Head Upgrade

Upgrades are necessary for the Printrbot Play and Printrbot Plus to run an E3D Head, including these spacers and a modified block. Note that the nut hole for the adjuster is designed for an M5 nut; I inserted an M5 nut and used the M3 bolt and nut provided by Printrbot, resulting in good retention. The spacers move the head away from the plates used on the gantry. The spacer with cutouts goes in first; I recommend reducing 2-3mm from the print side of the spacer between the E3D head and the block. The block is set up for a standard 13mm gear, but it may be too tight to turn, so either spin it by hand or file it accordingly. No pictures are available for the Plus model, but it will fit on both the Play and the Plus to get online. Special consideration is required for the Play; all pieces must be used because the edge of the gantry plates will touch the bed. Removing 2-3mm from the top of the spacer ensures a perfect fit.
