Printrbot Model 3 X/Y Axis cable chain support
thingiverse
I'm still unsure if this solution will totally solve the issue after several hours of printing with the Model 3. The cable appears to be sagging slightly, and while it hasn't gotten jammed yet I wouldn't count on it not to slide down. I'll keep this part up for now but might try designing something that attaches directly to the bracket on the extruder. The printrbot Model 3 has a horizontal cable chain for the X/Y axis - though it's fixed with two screws at either end (two at the extruder, two at the frame), I don't trust that it will stay level over time. Since this is a large-format printer, a malfunction of the cable chain binding could destroy a big print. I came up with a small block that fits under the spool holder bracket. This gives the cable chain some support and (hopefully!) creates a pivot point keeping it level. You'll need to print both parts - one goes under the left bracket, the other the right. I printed mine with enough bottom layers to have a solid part between the bracket and base.
