I have a faulty wire on my Simple Metal with a rev D board. This causes inconsistent voltage, making it difficult to replace and obtain reliable results. A simple hardware solution can serve as both a permanent fix and a quick repair while ordering new parts. To use this method, you'll need to level your print bed, which can be achieved by adjusting the existing bed or installing an adjustable one like many other printers use with springs - the choice is yours. Connect the leads exactly as you would for any other end stop on your printer and secure them with 2.5mm machine screws. Remove the G29 probe command from your startup code since software leveling will no longer be needed. This method works seamlessly with the Rev D board without requiring firmware changes. If you have a Rev F4 board, refer to this guide for instructions: http://help.printrbot.com/Guide/How+to+use+switch+type+Z+endstop+on+Rev+F4/156 I created two versions of the end stop bracket; the optimal one depends on your specific printer setup and material choice. The 2.5mm machine screws provide a secure fit, holding the end stop in place.
