I grew fed up with my Z Axis nut giving way on my Printrbot so I endeavored to find out if I could design a replacement for the assembly that was more streamlined, smaller in size, lighter in weight, less screw-heavy and printable from any material. This is the first design, basically, I took the Printrbot source files, reassembled them in 3dsMax to get an idea of where all the nuts, holes, and rods were situated, then wiped the slate clean and designed based around the placement of the nuts, rods, and bearings. So far, the print has turned out fantastically well, but I need to run another print on the rod holder. I'm not entirely sure if this is indeed the Z carriage since it cradles the X carriage rods; as a result, I am still unsure what this structure should be called, does anyone happen to know?
