Printrbot LC fan shroud / air control
thingiverse
The initial Printrbot LC cooling had suboptimal performance, directing air flow all over the place instead of specifically on the plastic that needed it. This impacted bridging and stickiness. As an attempt to correct this, a design was created to focus air directly at the freshly extruded plastic. It is advised for users to try this out and report their results back. The first attempt had a narrower bottom but did not raise it; however, it didn't affect print quality significantly. A potential issue in v1 was that if you weren't using glass on the default bed, there could be a clash with the hand-adjust screw near home. V2 hoped to improve this. This design is experimental and the user takes responsibility for any damage caused. Some suggested improvements include bringing the bottom closer to the extruder, raising it further, smoothing interior edges to reduce air drag, tightening the air direction horizontally, and using zap straps instead of garden wire. The design requires bridging capabilities, so users should calibrate accordingly. If someone is unable to use this due to lack of bridging skills, they can ask for a printed copy from another user.
