Printrbot Jr Vibration Isolator

Printrbot Jr Vibration Isolator

thingiverse

An isolator ball design, specifically made for fitting onto the legs of the Printrbot Jr, is aimed at minimizing vibrations transferred to the table, floor, or shelf it rests on, thereby reducing noise produced by the printer. The design, based on lazzymonk's work, merges the "base" cup and spring base into one piece, eliminating glue requirements. It also adapts the "top" cup to fit onto Printrbot Jr legs. There are two types of cups available in the download - three normal ones for fitting on three legs and a different one with an extra slot for nearby protruding screws inside the body. The design was made using Inventor, making tweaking parameters easier between edits. Each cup is 3mm deep (requiring ball bearings greater than 6mm diameter), 25mm wide, and comes in two types: eight millimeters for smoothness and larger diameters to allow room for the ball movement, reducing damping and risk of rolling out. Smaller balls bring the cups closer together while larger ones limit movement within the cup. Marbles or printed ball bearings can be used as alternatives. A Printrbot Jr stock printbed can accommodate four bases and caps. A smaller skirt (2mm from the model instead of 5mm) was used to help fitting.
