Printrbot Jr. Upper & Lower Filament Guides (1.75mm)
thingiverse
Introducing my solution for filament slipping issues during prints. To fix this, I designed an upper guide that directs the filament into the hobbed bolt. Additionally, it replaces the wooden piece for the extruder idler and has pockets for nylocks. I also added a lower filament guide to reduce wobbling in the channel below the hobbed bolt and above the extruder. For printing the upper guide, use 10% infill, 2 perimeters, and 0.2 layer height. You may need to clean out the inside of the guide for smooth filament passage. Replace the idler latch and follow the instructions in the notes for proper installation. The lower guide requires dismantling the entire laser-cut extruder but provides a snug fit once installed. Test the filament for ease of passage through both guides before reassembling. My design has resolved my previous issues with longer prints failing due to tangling inside the lower extruder, so give it a try and see if it works for you too!
