Printrbot Jr J-Head Platform
thingiverse
When my Ubis hot end gave out, I swapped it with a budget-friendly Chinese V6 knockoff and simultaneously converted my Printrbot Jr. to a Bowden extruder setup. The J-Head adapter I've been relying on has performed adequately, but I wanted something more reliable. This new design will completely replace the entire extruder platform on my Jr., and as an added bonus, once it's done, there'll be less wood to warp. I acknowledge that few people still use a Printrbot Jr., but I'm one of them. Unfortunately, V1 didn't fit my hot end properly. V2 was a snug fit, which was intended to be the case, but it turned out to be too tight, requiring me to heat the plastic and force it onto my hot end. The end result is that my hot end remains firmly in place within the platform. Initially, I planned to create a v3 that wouldn't require this step, but after using V2 for some time, I realized improving upon it might be beyond my capabilities. It works extremely well. Some clarification on the extra components: The arm off to the side was initially intended by Richyoungblood to add a threaded rod to the Y-axis for enhanced stability. Instead, I'm utilizing it to mount an on-off button for my lights, which are situated on small platforms attached to the bottom of the platform with holes for zip ties. I'm working on another remix that will attach a LED light strip holder to this component using those holes as screw points, allowing me to integrate a more efficient lighting solution.
