My DIY printrbot idler's sit is way off too low, causing belt tension variations as it travels alongside those rods. I built an alternate bracket for the idler but have yet to install it. To me, that original setup where teeth of the belt rested on a bearing seemed flawed and a later mod improved my angle by swapping out that part with an 18T sprocket – maybe this design twist was intended all along? It seems like some creative genius has possibly tackled this issue already; even if so, I'll post a simplified concept in sketchup, a huge shoutout to the original thinker who contributed the core idea. As it is now, my carriage appears to be gliding much more smoothly. Only if your belt currently runs dead center, attempting to fine-tune it with this fix could backfire badly for you.
