Printrbot Handle Spool for 1.25" spool holes
thingiverse
I made some modifications to my Printrbot Simple setup by designing new parts because I found the spool holder that comes with it to be incompatible with my Hatchbox spool, and it lacked a crucial feature like a stop to keep the spool from obstructing the Y arm as it moves. So I designed these alternative pieces: the holder, guide, and supporting arm. Printing time for each part was about one hour forty minutes. If you find your build plate too small, rotate the platform by 45 degrees; this should solve the issue. To get them to print well, ensure that the filament density is at least 40%, dispense with the brim or raft as they are unnecessary in this case, and utilize supports on the printing plate for stability. For assembling these parts, first place the flat part of the assembly into a specific slot on the arm, followed by inserting the whole arm assembly onto the support piece that you just printed. While some folks might suggest applying a small amount of PLA glue to reinforce this bond, I found it not particularly essential in my case.
