Printrbot+ Filament Spool Holder
thingiverse
Adapting from Thingiverse's design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:65997), I created this rod-mount that accommodates 608 bearings. This holder is usable without bearings too, just requiring two printed towers and an ~8mm rod. The regular rectangular tower prints easily vertically but limits the z-axis range on the power cable side due to the extruder motor, so I devised a tapered version as well. The model includes small endcaps that fit snugly with 5/16 threaded rods to prevent slipping. Bearings can be slid onto and rested in the towers' top center, while for those without bearings, simply place the rod into the V-slots. Tool-free spool changes are possible in both cases by lifting the rod from the tower. To address the issue of cables getting tangled with bed leveler thumbscrews on Printrbot+ v2, the towers feature a 45-degree 8mm square hole for accessories, and an optional hook is included to suspend cables above the print bed using rubber bands. The rod holder should work for any printers with exposed 12mm Z rods, though I have only tested it on my Printrbot+. An additional accessory, a Maglite clip for 18mm flashlights, has been added to the design and can be printed with supports. Remember to ensure that your towers are securely positioned on the Z rods.
