Printrbot Dual Extruder Carriage and Mount
thingiverse
A work-in-progress design allows two Wade's extruders to be attached to a Printrbot, or a Dual Extruder Printrbot by Japica. The vertical stacking of the extruders poses weight issues with the 2x rods. To address this, "3rd rod X-axis brackets" were designed as glue-on parts for current Printrbot components. If successful, these parts will be combined into one file and reprinted. The user has also tried Lulzbot's pillow bushings for their linear bearings, finding them smooth but requiring precise spacing. The current files are 1st generation and required handwork with a Dremel and mill to fit the setup. A Dimension Printer was used for printing, with support material likely needed. The main goal is to get the printer functioning properly, after which single-extruder friendliness may be considered. Gluing the top two pillow bushings into the mount's cutouts increases part stability. An updated linear bearing version has been designed and shared on Thingiverse.
