The device is a dual-purpose component that easily attaches to an extruder motor using no screws, glue, or parts removal. The guide secures filament between the GT2 pulley and roller, preventing misalignment that causes slips. When the Z-axis retracts, uncentered filament can be pushed forward, potentially shredding due to friction against the pulley and roller if not held in place properly by the guide. The cleaning compartment holds an assortment of materials chosen by the user; sponges with added oil for lubrication or packing peanuts are used effectively. The design features minimal contact with the motor and allows airflow when a fan is employed, keeping the extruder cool.
