Printrbot 1405 E3d without adapter
thingiverse
I still consider this a work in progress at this point. My goal was to attach an E3d v6 to my Printrbot without relying on the standard printed adapter that's normally glued onto the top of the E3d and clamped into place by the extruder. Through perseverance, I managed to mount the E3d fully into the Printrbot extruder without making any alterations to the E3d. To achieve this feat, however, it was essential to drill out a small area underneath the filament feed hole on the extruder for the plastic bowden ring on the E3d to fit snugly inside. This modification enabled me to slide the E3d all the way up into the printrbot extruder. Furthermore, I required an adapter bracket made of 1.8mm aluminum sheet. This was necessary due to a space constraint between the bottom of the extruder and the top cooling fan, leaving merely about 4mm for the "1102_for_E3d" part. The "1102_for_E3d" component serves as the core modification within this assembly, completely replacing the entire front end of the stock 1405 Y-axis. It also positions the extruder below its standard location to compensate for the shorter hotend design.
