When I upgraded my PrintrBot Simple Metal Silver with a hotbed it caught on fire suddenly. So I relocated my PrintrBoard out from under the hotbed to decrease the resistance in the power cable caused by increasing heat, which triggered the fire due to creating an escalating cycle of heat and resistance. Moving forward, having a PrintrBoard simply sitting on my desk was also not secure, as it presented several chances to create a customized enclosure for my Printrboard, incorporate a cooling fan, and safely house and cool my Raspberry Pi that I use as a slave for my PrintrBot using AstroPi from AstroBox. I have a Rev.D Printrboard (operable with Rev.F6 w/ micro USB) and a Raspberry Pi 2 or 3. Consequently, the files are tailored to these hardware platforms. I've also included versions devoid of logos along with the logo files in AutoCAD format. If you do implement modifications, please share images of your unique enclosure design; it's always fun to witness others' customization. Certain parts have inserts for nuts, which I primarily based on 3mm bolts and nuts except for the Raspberry Pi 2 mounts that employ 2.5mm fasteners. Where a nut inset is absent, I frequently use a tap for those holes because ABS and PLA materials can be tapped quite easily. To use this enclosure as designed requires drilling a 19mm (~3/4 inch) hole into the side of my PrintrBot Simple Metal Silver for access to cables. Upon completion, you may utilize printed parts to accurately place the mount positioning marks right where desired. You'll need to print support material for assembling the enclosure. In my experience with freeware applications like MatterControl, Support Everywhere is a beneficial feature that allows you to initiate support material from within the printed part instead of beginning at the base of the print bed. Fortunately, Simplify3D users are also provided with this useful tool. Thanks to this modification, my Raspberry Pi 2 or 3 safely sits in its new custom case next to my PrintrBoard on a separate heat-sink equipped table, greatly increasing their overall reliability. Please enjoy!
