Printing SRTM-DEM data
thingiverse
Digital Elevation Model (DEM) can be obtained from SRTM at http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/. Alternatively, another source is available at http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/. I used the latter for my data which covers Mt. Fuji's area in Eurasia (N35E138).hgt.zip. To utilize this, I converted the '.hgt' file to '.ter' (Terragen data) using 3Dem software from http://www.visualizationsoftware.com/3dem/. Next, Terragen Classic at http://www.planetside.co.uk/content/view/16/28/ was used to convert the '*.ter' file into other 3DCG formats. I also converted '*.lwo' (LightWave3D data) during this process. The combined 3DCG files were then resized to 1/10,000 scale and prepared for printing.
