Printer Enclosure Carbon Filter System
myminifactory
I needed an ABS fume filter that met my standards and wasn't available, so I created this one myself. It prints seamlessly without any support structures and is highly modular, allowing users to easily add or remove "cells" depending on their printer enclosure size in 2-inch increments. The fan supports are specifically designed for a particular fan type, but the blower end is versatile enough to accommodate different fan mounts if a different fan is used. I haven't extensively tested this filter yet, but it successfully channels air from the enclosure through the carbon filters, meeting my functional requirements. Whether its effectiveness will be proven or not depends on real-world experience as I print more ABS parts (my usual printing material is PLA, so gathering reliable data may take some time). The blower used in this design is a high-performance 75MM 0.3A 12V unit. The filter pads are custom-cut aftermarket replacements that fit perfectly. Additionally, a thin gripper pad was employed to ensure a tight seal between the blower and the opening. To print without support structures, users must correctly orient their parts on the build plate in accordance with the orientation shown in the accompanying picture, where all printed components are aligned.
