Printer Calibration Layer Checker Thingie
thingiverse
This is one of the files I use to ensure my printers are calibrated correctly. Or at least as close as my idiot self can get them, but having the best chance that prints won’t fail right off the bat and waste filament (and not drive you nuts). Scale the file to fit your print bed in your slicer leaving room for a skirt. So, yes build plate adhesion should be set to skirt… This will give you a look at how well things are at the perimeter all around your print bed, and therefore (should) mean you are squared to the x axis and that your z is at least really close to where it needs to be at all corners. Tweak as it goes. Don’t be afraid to turn a knob or two while its printing. Always re-”level” after though and run a test before you print something important. I love abls, but do not assume they are any kind of perfect. Eventually you will have to level the bed in the old fashioned way. Mesh correction can only go so far at this point. I hope this helps someone. We are ALL just learning and doing our best to keep up with advancements and knowledge. There is no “expert” level. Anyone who feels that way will be shown different a few weeks later.
