Printer bed support
thingiverse
This is a modification designed to be used with SonnyLowe's Y mod for the Folger Tech 2020 Prusa i3, available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1278055. The goal was to increase the rigidity of the openbuilds Y gantry plate by adding extra thickness to it. This modification still allows for the full 200mm range of movement even when the rail is as short as 405mm. I made this modification by cutting out the holes from a piece of aluminum that can fit on top of the Y gantry plate, which provides extra support without taking up too much space. I chose to keep the center part narrower to allow for more flexibility in the positioning of the endstops and made larger holes at one side so they wouldn't get damaged during assembly. Later versions added slightly recessed holes so that the Folger Tech aluminum plate could be mounted separately from this support, reducing inconvenience caused by being unable to access key areas after assembly is completed. Now maintenance is greatly simplified as plates no longer interfere with adjustments of belt tension and alignment, making a significant difference in printer useability. Printer Settings: * Printer: Folger Tech 2020 Prusa i3 * Rafts: No rafts needed * Supports: Print without supports * Resolution: Suitable for any resolution * Infill: Recommended to be 30% or more
