I required brackets to secure a baby gate at the base of my stairs without compromising the railing's integrity. I utilized a 2x2 piece of oak as the sacrificial post, ensuring its structural integrity would withstand any potential damage. To connect it, I employed 1/4-20 nuts and 1/4-20 x 1 1/2 screws, guaranteeing a secure fastening system. On May 5, 2018, I sanded down some sharp edges to create a smoother surface.
