I am redesigning an extruder mount replacement that improves upon the original Prointrbit design, specifically tailored for users who need a 40mm fan mount on their printer. This two-part assembly features a compact box-like structure with a 32mm opening at its bottom to accommodate both the printer nozzle and airflow. To address manufacturing challenges, early iterations included a sloping fan mounting point, positioned at 25 degrees, allowing for usage without the lid part; however, achieving this can be complicated when it comes to 3D printing. As such, I have opted to preserve the original design in an SU file but choose not to share the .stl version just yet. A slight excess of material is used in the design, resulting in added weight that might be unwarranted. While my assembly can tolerate a degree of temperature fluctuation without becoming too hot, heat buildup might still occur when prolonged fan downtime coincides with elevated printer head temperatures. It would likely help to drill additional ventilation holes for improved airflow. Fortunately, the initial prototype proved too effective as it significantly cooled down the printing area, necessitating the installation of makeshift barriers to tame down its intake. Future revisions will probably involve adjustments based on changes in room temperature, used filament type, print layer height and overall size.
