Purchase LED strip modules from an electronics store like Jaycar (CAT. NO. ZD0473). Cut the strips into segments of three LEDs, which cost $2.95 each. Solder wires onto marked points and attach the LEDs to a suitable location, such as the underside of a traveling x-axis carriage using adhesive and silicone.
