PRINTAROON - A Macaroon-Style Lampshade

PRINTAROONThis lampshade was inspired by the popular macaroon style hanging lamps that are made of metal. It is composed of thee parts(Upper, Middle and Lower) plus an optional liner for the lower part. The liner was added for added reflectivity and for structure. The lampshade was designed to be mounted on a “Double ferrule thermoplastic E27 lamp holder” (see last pic). This kind of lamp holder comes with two ferrules that can sandwich the three parts in between them and hold the lampshade together. All models (aside from Middle) are quite thin, so I don't think there is space for infill but I used 40%.Upper - Print with smaller hole on the plate. It shouldn't need support. Lower - Print with smaller hole on the plate. Use supports. Used lines and it worked ok. But I am not sure it is the best option. Middle - I have not printed this part because I was trying to get a certain look, as well as a certain degree of light refraction through the material. The idea is that the light would shine from the bulb, through the top of the Lower lampshade and diffuse through the acrylic disk. If you wan to print the middle you might get good results with transparent filament. I would be very interested to know how it turned out. You can also choose to ignore the light diffusion feature and print a completely opaque part. I used two "opal" acrylic disks 138mm wide and 10mm thick.Inlay - This part is optional. I added it for more light refraction and for a bit of structure. It should simply press fit inside the Lower. Print with smaller hole on bed. Use supports. NotesI used PLA to print this and, because I use 800lumen LED bulbs the PLA doesn't seem to get hot at all, so I don't think there's any worry about deforming the plastic.The holes that the lamp holder passes through are 42mm wide. You will need to make sure that your lamp holder can fit through the hole or you will need to modify the design (I have attached an .f3d file if you want to modify it). If you have a lamp holder that's too small to “sandwich” all the components of the lampshade, you might be able to print a couple of rings to fit in between the ferrules and the lampshade parts. Read print guide for Middle part. I did not print this part. I used Acrylic discs. But the part can be printed. Future developmentIf I manage to learn to make parametric models I will upload a version, so that different sizes can be printed, with different lamp holder holes and so on.
