Updated printable wool winder design includes MKII style carriage STLs and source design files. The following additional parts are required: McMaster 5233T84 - 3 x 19mm O-Ring, M6 Nyloc Nut, M6 x 55mm BHCS, and 2 x 606 bearings. Key changes in the updated design include faceted pockets for easier printing, added counterbalance hardware, and removal of WIP as the design is complete. The winder creates center-pull balls from raw hanks of yarn and requires a yarn swift; a future project will focus on designing a printable swift. This winder was designed for personal use after the owner's current ball winder proved troublesome, and its cost-effective parts make it a great alternative to pricier equivalents. The winder's function involves rotating carriage and spindle mechanisms that cause yarn to take the form of a cylinder. Non-printable parts required include 4 x 624ZZ ball bearings, 2 x 606ZZ ball bearings, 2 x 608ZZ ball bearings, a compression spring (McMaster-Carr P/N 9435K93), an O-Ring size -237 (McMaster-Carr P/N: 9396K226), an O-Ring size -254 (McMaster-Carr P/N: 9396K245), 1/4" PTFE tubing (McMaster-Carr P/N: 5239K12), assorted screws and nuts, and an M8 hex nut, M10 hex nuts, and M5 acorn nuts. Instructions for assembly are available with exploded views provided as a reference.
