Printable snap-fit Mendel Bed LM8UU
thingiverse
Deployed successfully on my second Mendel; this setup offers a non-wood alternative for bed support, designed to accommodate LM8UU bearings and heated bed PCB. To print, use ABS preferably, and adjust 'layerHeight', 'thickness', 'explode', and 'clr' in the SCAD file accordingly. Set thickness at 5-6mm initially for testing; 10mm provides greater rigidity. Assemble parts by snapping them together, and secure LM8UU bearings with ties. Attach the structure to the heated bed using long M3 bolts, preferably with springs. The belt mount holes are 18mm apart, with three center holes unused at present. Further individual parts may be uploaded later. This design is currently untested on a printer but available for others to experiment with. A PLA printed bearing holder facilitates easier insertion of bearings compared to ABS ones. Lastly, the provided STL files (hub.stl, littleBeltClamp.stl, beltClampInner.stl, and beltClampOuter.stl) allow for a fixed and adjustable belt clamp setup with tagged hubs for mounting and maintaining proper belt spacing.
