thingiverse
Discover a new way to secure Bowden cables without nuts! A narrowly fitting, freely rotating coupling was found to grip PTFE well enough to print another with more contact area. Printable push-to-fit couplings for 1/8" PTFE cables were also successfully tested. The current design allows easy removal of the coupling sideways, eliminating the need to pull back plastic filament first. A cable-to-cable coupling is also included. This friction fit could potentially replace metal pinch-wheels in extruder drive mechanisms and allow printing of fasteners. What other non-printed parts can be replaced with superior printed alternatives? The Darwin design has 5mm bolt holes 33.5mm apart, while the Mini-Mendel version has 60mm apart for an M3 bolt. A hose-to-hose coupling is provided to connect two pieces of PTFE bowden cable.
