Printable night lamp

Meet Nessie, a night lamp inspired on the mysteryous Loch Ness Monster... This night lamp is designed in such a way that it could be injection moulded, and also easily 3D printed at home. The design arose from the idea of having smooth continous surfaces that look organic but at the same time work structurally. The lamp uses a minimal ammount of plastic and prints without supports, plus it's designed for standard sockets and fits almos any cable.The design was co developed with Alejandra Vega and Karen Sánchez, from CIDI, UNAM, México. This piece is a good example of post industrial produccion, in which consumer goods can be manufactured without the need of industrial technologies.The design was modelled in Solidworks 2016. Both the STL and Solidwork files are made available in case someone want's to make modifications. The STLs are quite heavy in order to get the desired smoothness, but they can be intensionally exported in a lower res to get a faceted look.I would love to see people replicate and use this design in a variety of colors and places.
