A few weeks back, I stumbled upon a concept on rep-rap.org for an extruder that used plastic pellets instead of filaments. A copper wire and pipe comprised auger drove the pellets into the hot end. However, I later forgot about it. More recently, walking down Roncesvalles, which has been under construction for two years, I noticed a machine making cement curbs had an exposed auger at the cement feed area. It was segmented and bolted together - perfect for 3D printing! But alas, my design ratios are off, bolt holes misaligned, and size too small.
