***WARNING*** Make sure the socket you use is rated for a high enough wattage or you could start a FIRE! Also, this project uses DANGEROUS VOLTAGE that can KILL you if you're not careful. So make sure the power is off when you're working on it, thoroughly insulate every electrical connection with tape, secure wires so they don't get pulled out, and be very cautious. I built an enclosure and use these with 75w halogen light bulbs to really get it hot in there. I can even bake my filament to dry it out! These bolt right onto a 2040 rail with m5 bolts, Ender 3, Anet am8, its symmetrical so it'll work on either side. I used basic lamp part extensions so the hole should be the same size. Stay tuned for the bulb cover stl. I'm planning on getting some flame retardant abs to try. Definitely don't use any kind of material that can't handle your bulb temperature. Mine get to 130c. Here's a heat reading gun, always good to have around when you're 3d printing --> https://amzn.to/2xHTJnj These sockets are rated at 200w --> https://amzn.to/2xL6T2B 300w rated Dimmer, necessary because the bulbs can get too hot --> https://amzn.to/2UQ0Z8s I had some old lamp parts laying around but these should work for the extension pipe. I wouldn't use the sockets though unless they are rated for over 200 watts --> https://amzn.to/2UCms60 A couple of tips when printing with high temp plastics like ABS, Nylon, Polycarbonate: - Don't open the door! Unless you absolutely have to! Even a second or two of under 40c will make abs warp. ...don't even get me started on nylon! - Let the enclosure warm up to temperature before you start your print. Ambient temps for prints I've tried: Petg - 40-45 Abs - 45-50 Polycarbonate and nylon 50-55 Check out my arduino temperature reader to be posted soon!
