PRINT SMOOTHER AKA TL_SMOOTHER SMD

This was an outstanding design by the original creator, however, I always want to improve my surface mount device (SMD) skills and also do better etching my own printed circuit boards (PCBs). I used a SMD version which I chose a bit larger than the S3G, but you can also use S3M, and possibly even the SS510. I saw a few out there that have larger diode cases, but I haven't had any problems with mine. I have not tested any except the S3G diodes, though I did order the S3M, S3G, and SS510. The PCB is all SMD, uses the SMD XH2.54 version instead of the through-hole. There is a supplier on eBay that sells 30 of them for really cheap, or you can use Digi-Key, Allied Electronics, or your other favorite supplier. This SMD version makes it easy as there are no components through the board and you can use double-sided tape to mount it, or, you can put clear shrink tube and tape it out of the way. This is designed for my FFCP but will work with any printer. With the FFCP, you will need to cut off at least 4" to 5" of the end of the stepper wire that connects to the motherboard. This will allow you to crimp on the XH connectors and plug into the XH2.54 housings to plug into the smoother board. Then on the stepper side, crimp on XH crimps and plug into the same style XH2.54 housings, and plug into the stepper smoother. I am working on a kit that will allow you to use the factory stepper connector so you don't have to cut the end off, then you'd have to buy the stepper ends (listed in my other FFCP wiring thing) and make a small jumper wire. That way you won't have to cut anything. This current setup you will have to cut your wires and use XH2.54 connectors. You will need the following: PCB single-sided, etching chemicals, and soldering equipment. https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/on-semiconductor/S3G/S3GFSTR-ND/1050939 (x8 per stepper smoother or 40 for all steppers) https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/jst-sales-america-inc/XHP-4/455-2267-ND/683353 (x2 per stepper smoother or total of 10 for all steppers) https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/jst-sales-america-inc/SXH-001T-P0.6/455-1135-1-ND/527370 (x8 per stepper smoother or x40 for all 5 steppers) https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/jst-sales-america-inc/S4B-XH-SM4-TB-LF-SN/455-2262-1-ND/1651060 (x2 per stepper smoother or 10 for all 5 steppers) The new version I am working on will be easier as you won't be cutting the wires as stated above, but will require through-hole soldering which means could use all through-hole components for ease, or will require a double layer clad PCB. I prefer personally SMD for simplicity. I am dealing with a death in my family so it may be a while!
