This is a remix of a remix! Using the OpenSCAD code from the Big Nippled Parametric Gyro Cube, I updated connections to make them more robust and consistent with 45 degree angles for better printing results. The original design was intended to print as "Print in Place," where cubes would connect without assembly required after the fact, except snapping off bottom supports. However, this model can also be printed with all spheres flat, allowing you to snap each sphere into place afterwards. Spheres are sized just right that you can run each one as a separate print and embed them into each other by pausing the next print, making it possible to have multiple colors even with single extruder machines like mine! I've tested both versions on two different printers (MakerGear M2 and Wanhao Duplicator i3) and experimented with three nozzle sizes (0.35, 0.4, and 0.5). They've been spinning well and surviving stress tests by my 3-year-old and 5-year-old kids. Hopefully, it will work just as well on your machine(s)! Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerGear Printer: M2 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.25 Infill: 20% Notes: For the "Print in Place" version, I only do supports on the bottom to hold inner spheres up. See Slicing Screenshots below. For "Snap in Place," no supports at all. Biggest Tip - Add a Vertical Z Lift when you retract. In Simplify3D, it's the Retraction Vertical Lift setting under Ooze Control (See Slicing Screenshots below). When cubes start to close up those circle cut-outs, there can be dropping or curling. Having your nozzle lift up prevents collisions and more importantly, snapping some of those delicate thin pieces. Slicing Screenshots: When I I highly recommend adding a Vertical Lift - it helps when those circle cut outs are closing up near the top.
