Print in Place Humanoid Robot
pinshape
This project was an ambitious endeavor in crafting seamless print-in-place joints. No rafts were employed, no supports were necessary, and the best part was that assembly was completely eliminated! All that remained was carefully removing the print from its bed and gently unlocking the joints. For the most part, the joints were either precision pins or intricate ball-and-socket mechanisms. I meticulously optimized the fit specifically for a Makerbot Rep2 using PLA; 0.2mm layer height with single walls and a strategic 5% infill. Even on my most successful print, I was unable to completely free the last two joints - good luck will undoubtedly be essential!
