Print-in-place Hinge Library
cults3d
This OpenSCAD library generates three distinct types of print-in-place hinges that can be printed entirely assembled without any support materials required. All the hinges feature unique characteristics, with one type having a horizontal hinge axis and the other two possessing vertical hinge axes. The hinge models are highly parameterized to allow for adjustments in size and clearances as needed. This enables users to fine-tune their designs according to specific requirements. In practice, if a noticeable gap appears between adjacent hinge fingers during the initial printing layers, it indicates that the clearance parameter value is indeed sufficient. Conversely, if hinge fingers overlap in the first layer, the print should be cancelled immediately and the hinge spacing value increased to rectify the issue. I created an entirely custom version of this library from scratch to provide users with a high degree of control over the spacing and distribution of hinge arms. The two vertical hinges are unique designs that I developed specifically for this purpose. // UPDATED 11/8/13 - Separate STL files have been added for each example hinge type, offering enhanced customization options.
