Print-in-place Geared Maker Coin
myminifactory
Hey all! Check out my geared maker coin that I designed for the Dec 2018 Prusa competition, created in Fusion 360 and printed on my Mk2s with PLA. Kudos to all the support from the Prusa Facebook Group and good luck to all the other entries! Update: I Won! Big thanks to everyone! TO PRINT: Try printing the coin with 0.35 mm tolerances first, and only the second one if that one fuses or jams. The ones with 0.2mm tolerances are by far the best in terms of spinning duration and how smooth it rotates but need a well-tuned printer to print. This was my first foray into print in place gears so its a little looser than I would like, but better looser than too tight I suppose. After adding some all purpose grease or oil and playing with it for a while it spins much more freely than when it was fresh off the build plate, so I recommend you do that! I included a mesh modifier .stl for peeps using slic3r, I used a 15% infill for the main body and used the modifier to turn that thin, easily breakable part to 50% infill for peace of mind. some other stuff:-no supports-look out for elephants foot, that might jam it up.-also look out for stringing, that might be bad-I've printed it at 0.2mm and 0.15mm layer height, both seem fine.-It should print in about the same time as a Benchy-I used both multi-purpose grease and sewing machine oil both work great.-Feel free to down-size it if you are confident your printer can handle it EDIT:Coin with 0.2mm tolerances added! Enjoy! I look forward to your print! Feel free to ask me any questions you may have in the comments! P.S. the "R" is for my name, Ryan Khoo!
