Ionad Oidhreachta Leitir Mealláin (Heritage Centre) attracts great interest with its cultural and heritage exhibitions showcasing the private collection of local historian John Bhaba Jeaic Ó Confhaola. As a result, the committee has decided to establish a permanent centre to display the rich heritage of this area. This brass box was given by Princess Mary to soldiers for Christmas in 1914. Each one features an image of Mary along with other military and imperial symbols. Typically, it's filled with an ounce of tobacco, a packet of cigarettes wrapped in yellow monogrammed paper, a cigarette lighter, and a Christmas card and photograph from Princess Mary. There is no admission fee, but donations are always welcome.
