Prince de Lavau - Acheloos chez les Celtes
sketchfab
Acheloos, the Greek god of rivers, sports a beard and mustache as he pays a visit to the Celts. Perched atop a massive bronze cauldron with a diameter of nearly 40 inches, he emerges from the tomb of Prince Lavau, a Celtic leader from the Hallstatt period. This prized artifact was crafted in the Mediterranean world and arrived at the Seine River's edge during the Iron Age, circa 500 BC. Archaeologists from INRAP unearthed it during excavation work near Troyes, Aube, in late 2015. The discovery is chronicled on INRAP's website as well as Arke's Aube.fr, where readers can explore more about the Prince of Lavau's tomb and its significance.
