Primi Building Blocks
myminifactory
My design closely ties in with meshing primitives, which is why it's called that, used in simulation model preparation. Each block is designed with all female connectors into which the male pins fit snugly. This gives a greater degree of flexibility in their use without needing multiple connector variations for each part. The pins are hexagonal in shape with a vertex-to-vertex length of 5.1-5.2mm depending on the print file chosen. I discovered that on my printer, the 5.15mm pins provided the best press fit into the 5mm diameter holes. To make printing the pins more time-efficient, I've uploaded a stack of 10 pins alongside the single pin file, with a 0.2mm air gap between each pin. This stack can be printed as one and then each pin snapped off as it's used. I've also designed a tool for inserting and removing the pins from the shapes to avoid needing other tools. I recommend starting with printing a tet piece and a single pin in each diameter to see which fits best for your printer. If needed, I can upload different variations of the pin sizes. The set includes both traditional and non-traditional building block shapes, making it suitable for various designs. I'm excited to see what you guys can create with it.
