Prima Creator P120 X gantry silencer

Hello there! Yesterday I bought a brand new Prima Creator P120 as my secondary printer to use when my Aurora A5 is busy. I needed a compact desktop printer with a small footprint, and this one fit the bill perfectly. Setting up the Prima Creator was a breeze - it took no time at all. But then I encountered a major problem: the X-axis movement produced an ear-piercingly loud noise that really got on my nerves. I decided to take matters into my own hands and disassemble the entire printer to investigate the issue. I suspected that some screws might not be tightened properly, so I gave it a thorough once-over. But after reassembling everything, the noise was still there. It wasn't until I randomly touched the metal X gantry cover that I discovered the source of the problem. To fix the issue, I designed a custom frame using Sketchup to attach to the existing metal plate. This would give me more control over the assembly and allow me to tighten everything securely. Before attaching it, I applied some thin soft rubber strips to the surface for added stability. With my modification in place, the printer's noise level was significantly reduced - still not as quiet as my Aurora A5, but a huge improvement nonetheless. And let me tell you, replacing the stock fan with a new one made all the difference! It's amazing how much of a difference a simple swap can make. But what really caught my attention when I took apart the printer was the fact that the Malmö address on the Prima Creator's packaging seemed to imply that it was manufactured in Sweden. Little did I know, it was actually made in China! Guess I won't be holding my breath for any Swedish craftsmanship here. There are still plenty of areas where this printer needs improvement - but hey, at least it's quiet now!
