PREVIEW - The infinity-machine - One turn in 2019 years (Die Unendlichkeits-Maschine)
thingiverse
This is a sneak peek at my ongoing project. The plan is to have the machine finished by the first week of 2019. So far, all parts except for the shafts and base plate are printed using 3D technology. As soon as everything has been printed out and assembled, I will upload the files, plans, and drilling templates for the base plate. This way, everyone can see exactly how the machine is put together. The dimensions of the finished project will be approximately 350 x 180 mm when mounted on an 18 mm oak board using M3 machine screws. At this point, I'm still deciding between a stepper motor and a DC motor with a small gear box attached - we'll see which one makes it into the final version. With a motor speed of about 65 rpm, the last shaft or gear will turn once in 2019 years. I have to admit, it's ironic that I'm building a machine that might not be seen by me in its finished state. In the end, the last gear will be set in concrete as part of the final design.
