This Japanese joint called "Kawai tsugite" has been invented by an (unknown) Japanese architectural professor 30-40 years ago for testing woodworker's skills. Shinobu Kobayashi is precisely a Japanese woodworker based in Australia, currently studying Scandinavian techniques in Sweden. Working in concert with a master cabinetmaker from Denmark, Kobayashi managed to cut this crazy three-way woodworking join. He found the way of this joint while he was at Capellagarden's school. As we can't find any details and informations from Japanese joinery books in Japanese, this joint is only known among a small number of Japanese woodworkers in Japan. It is therefore the same with foreign carpenters. Shinobu Kobayashi est justement un menuisier japonais basé en Australie, étudiant actuellement les techniques scandinaves en Suède. Travaillant de concert avec un maître ébéniste du Danemark, Kobayashi a réussi à couper cette drôle de jointure. Il a trouvé comment faire alors qu'il était à l'école de Capellagarden. Comme nous ne pouvons trouver aucun détail ni information dans les livres de menuiserie japonais en japonais, ce joint est seulement connu entre un petit nombre de menuisiers japonais au Japon. Il en est donc de même auprès des menuisiers étrangers.
